Our Impact

For more than 300 years, we have provided practical help where it is most needed. We expand access to education and ensure older generations are treated with dignity and care.

This tradition began in 1693, when Member David Aitkenhead supported a fellow merchant in hardship, establishing our culture of giving that continues today. We now deliver a wide range of charitable initiatives.

Together, our impact includes £459k in annual charitable giving, education for over 4,600 children each year, 77 units of social and affordable housing – and more.
