Merchant Company Charitable Trust

The Company has been responsible for multiple charitable trusts since its inception. Early activities focused on schools and education, but other funds were entrusted over time that came with criteria on who might benefit, by location, name, profession or gender. In 2024, the Merchant Company Charitable Trust received approval from OSCR (the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator) to bring together a number of long-standing Sundry Trusts into one consolidated charitable fund.
