The Merchant Company Endowment Trust believes that safe, affordable housing is essential to the wellbeing of individuals and the strength of our communities. Through our housing developments, we continue to invest in places where older people can live independently, with dignity and a sense of belonging.
Completed in 2008–2009, our Brandfield Street development provides 20 high-quality amenity flats designed for older residents. The entire site is leased to Dunedin Canmore Housing Association, now part of the Wheatley Group, reflecting our commitment to trusted partnerships and long-term care.
These homes are open to people aged 60 and over, offering more than just a place to live. They provide safety, comfort and a genuine sense of community.
Delivered in two phases, the Little Road development has created 48 homes within a supportive and inclusive neighbourhood:
This development combines social and mid-market housing for residents aged 55 and over:
Brandfield Street and Little Road reflect a wider purpose: to build communities where people feel secure, respected and connected. These homes are a product of thoughtful planning and shared values, made possible through sustained charitable investment.
